Shopper's Protection insurance gives you the security that you could meet your Gem Visa repayments if you were unable to work due to illness, injury or involuntary unemployment.

It also provides cover against loss or damage for the things you buy, even against certain price reductions.

Price Protection

Don’t miss out on a sale. If you buy an eligible item in Australia with your Gem Visa and within 12 months the item is available at a lower price at the same retailer or any other Australian retailer, we’ll pay the difference between the purchase price and the lower price to your account, up to $1,000 per item. So the more you claim the more you can save.*

Merchandise Protection

Cover the things you buy with your Gem Visa. This means if your item is lost, stolen or damaged within 12 months of its purchase, we’ll pay for the original purchase price or the cost of repair or replacement to your account, up to $2,000 per item.*

Cover for your account

Stolen Card

If your Gem Visa card is reported stolen, we'll pay $200 to your account - just for the inconvenience.*

Balance benefit

If you lose your job unexpectedly (for at least 90 days), or can't work due to sickness or injury (for at least 30 days), we'll pay the balance of your account up to $5,000.*

Life benefit

If you die, we'll pay the balance owing at the date of your death, up to $20,000.*

What’s the cost?

Enjoy the benefits of Shopper's Protection for 1% of your monthly closing balance, up to a maximum of $50 a month. It’s automatically debited to your card account and you'll see the premium on your statement.

Need to make a claim?

Making a claim for Shopper's Protection is straight forward. Depending on the nature of the claim, you can complete a claim online, download and send in a claim form, or call us on 1800 800 230 Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.00pm (AEST).
